Breath is St. John’s Small Tall Ship, handbuilt by her captain at Round Bay, launched by two hundred friends and a bulldozer, sailed all over the Caribbean, and across the Atlantic to Europe and Africa. Stories about her cruises have been featured in Readers Digest, Sail and American Way.

Peter and Dorothy Mullenburg, arrived on St. John in 1968. Since then they have snorkeled every reef and anchored in every cove between here and Anegada, farthest-most Island of the British Virgin Islands.

Casual Sails to Quiet Places on “Long Distance”

The Boat: Pearson Yachts designed the Pearson 40 to be a comfortable, family cruising boat that is also competitive in race regattas. A full bimini provides shade and the flush deck gives ample space for lounging in the sun.

Your Hosts/Owners: Rick and Robin Gallup are from Lake Sunapee, New Hampshire, and Sugarloaf, Maine. They began coming to St. John in the late 1980’s and moved here permanently in 1995. Rick is a U.S. Coast Guard Master Captain and Robin is St. John’s only Visiting Nurse; both are PADI Certified Scuba Divers. Rick and Robin provide guided snorkeling (clear water, colorful coral, abundant reef fish) and share many island stories.

Snorkel Sails: Rick and Robin prefer to offer USVI sails off the East End of St. John, to unspoiled coral reefs with beautiful views of the British Virgin Islands. Enjoy a casual day of sailing and snorkeling off the beaten track at places that rival the BVI Indians, with less people and more marine life.

Trip Details: We have snorkel gear on board, but bring your own if you have it.
Meet Rick 15 minutes before scheduled departure at the Concrete Dock behind the Coral Bay Fire Station.
We don’t take credit cards, but accept cash, traveler’s or personal checks.

USVI Full Day Sail, 10am-4pm
2 Person Minimum, 6 Person Maximum.
Competitive rates. Private sails available.
2 snorkel stops at a remote bay or uninhabited island.
Includes lunch, cold beverages and rum punch. Your choice of turkey
or vegetarian deli sandwich. Please specify food allergies.
USVI Half Day Sail, 9am-12noon or 1pm-4pm

Sail and snorkel to great places you can’t reach by land.
