Join the celebration on February 27-28, 2020 from 10am to 3:30pm on the VI National Park ballfield in Cruz Bay, St. John for the 29th annual Folklife Festival. The theme of the 2020 event is “Sharing Plenty”. Free for all to enjoy!
Since 1996, Friends of the Park has sponsored the annual Folklife Festival at the Annaberg Sugar Plantation. The popular annual event features cultural demonstrations from the plantation era as well as African dance, songs, and stories.
Focusing on St. John’s rich history, as well as the integrated culture of other islands, visitors to the St. John Folklife Festival enjoy traditional food & music, local storytelling, and activity stations designed to give students and attendees the opportunity to learn more about the VI and its ancestors.
Local history teachers use the event as a learning opportunity for their students, who are encouraged to be actively engaged and ask questions. Checkout this video from past celebrations.
Help keep local culture alive and inspire future generations to learn about the past at this year’s Folklife Festival on St. John.
