  1. We had a wonderful time on St John. We took advantage of the beautiful back patio and the grill, and grabbed chicken and pork chops at The Dolphin Market. Those low-key evenings enjoying our own home-cooked meal at our outdoor table by our entrance was relaxing and enjoyable.
We also loved the burgers and live music at Skinny Leggs a few times, as well.
As for the beaches, wow, it’s difficult to pick a favorite. We loved Maho for the sea turtles and stingray we saw there. Scott loves going to Haulover. It’s quiet, and the snorkeling is awesome. I love Little Lampshur, as it’s tucked away and hard to get to.
We were just watching the videos and picture we took last night, and talked about going back next year.
Thank you for your hospitality. It was great to talk to you, and giving us some ideas for next year.

  2. Really nice stay here for our first time in St. John!

    A few of our favourites:

    1. Lind Point Trail to Honeymoon Beach. Gorgeous! Get a parking pass at the visitors center for free parking on the trail.
    2. STJ Brewery for a Shandy ( beer mixed with carbonated lemon- lime beverage)
    3. Reef Bay trail- tons of hermit crabs and the ruins, but was a hard hike back up!
    4. Miss Lucy’s for Sunday brunch
    5. Trunk Bay for a beach day – Go to the right for fewer people if the cruise ship guests come in. It gets a little crowded but, Not bad.
    6. Francis Bay for snorkelling; saw 4 sea turtles and a ton of stingray
    7. Tap and Bar Grille on the west side of Cruz Bay. Go for cheap yummy food. ( $3.00 for Boardwalk style fries in a bag)
    8. Skinny legs across the street for good food and drinks. Key Lime pie is great! Kitchen closes at 8pm
    9. Banana Deck in Cruz Bay for dessert called “ZANGO” Its deep fried banana wrapped in a tortilla with cinnamon and ice cream
    10. Sun Dog Café in Mongoose Junction for really great shrimp dishes.

    Thanks for the great stay!

  3. I just wanted to take a moment, now that I’m back at my desk in soggy, cool southern Ontario, to thank you and your staff for your accommodation last week. We had a wonderful stay in the Aft Cabin and a fantastic week on STJ overall! I’ve since seen that News of St John has posted about the issue we discovered with access to Kiddle Bay – a shame we couldn’t get any snorkeling done there – but we didn’t lack for any interesting sights, from nurse sharks on Maho and Francis to (one of my favourites) reef squid at Salt Pond and even Hawksnest. An octopus still eludes me. We never did get into the mangroves this year – but that’s something to add to the “to-do” list next time! We enjoyed having such easy access to Skinny Legs and are now thoroughly convinced that we enjoy the Coral Bay community over the ‘hustle and bustle’ of Cruz Bay. Thanks for including the “Save Coral Bay” stickers in the welcome package – they will be going on our Jeep here at home. I’ve written a couple of letters this past year at David Silverman’s encouragement, opposing both the Summer’s End and T-Rex proposals – we are proud to show our support even here in Ontario where it seems very few people even know about the USVI, let alone St John (to Canadians, St John is a city in our maritime province of New Brunswick, on the Bay of Fundy – a very different kind of place!).

Thanks again for providing us a clean and comfortable place to stay at a price that wasn’t hard on our pocketbook on such short notice! (it was a bonus to be able to watch the Walking Dead finale on DISH on Sunday night)
