  1. We had a fantastic vacation in this home! After traversing the road up and down once or twice, it actually became fun and just art of the adventure. Note, you really need a jeep or you may bottom out. The home had every amenity you could desire, and even had extra water bottles as we stocked up daily on tap water and ice before heading out for the day. Since I wasn’t so sure about driving up at night–which we did once, we ate most dinners at home, buying seafood and all of our groceries at Calabash Market–such a great little store and we got to know the owner quite well. The views are really why we selected the location. They are truly phenomenal–from every room. I need to limit sun exposure (I know, on an island vacation), and really appreciated the wrap around patio and deck, nicely covered from the sun, relaxing in the Adirondack chairs with coffee in the morning and a glass of wine in the evening. The architecture is stunning, loving the exposed beams and cathedral ceilings which really opens up the space. The upstairs bedroom has an outdoor shower, which was fun to use, even at night after a day out exploring. There was such an amazing breeze/wind, the great room def did not need A/C, and only one of our children used the A/C in the bedroom. I actually forgot we had one in our room–with the breeze blowing through, we didn’t need it. The beds were comfortable to include the pillows and sheets, and I’m fairly particular about mattresses and pillows. The washer and dryer were so helpful, allowing us to bring fewer clothes, and wash the beach towels as needed, along with the bathroom towels. The beach chairs and most especially the beach umbrella were a God-send. We def needed the umbrella, and it was easy to set up every day as we explored the beaches. Our kids enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Karen and the grounds keeper responded immediately when we needed some help with the grill. The landscaping is gorgeous and neatly manicured. Our daughter forgot her beloved stuffed animal she’s had since she was 6 mrs old, only discovered missing once we arrived home. Notified Karen, and the bedroom was searched, Bunny found, and shipped to us. Bunny is back! We def plan to return and appreciated all of the help from Karen and Windspree staff.

  2. House was great. It had everything we needed. 6 beach chairs, multiple coolers. Some snorkel gear, the other snorkel equipment we rented from Crabbys down the street. House was stocked with lots of spices and condiments, dishes, blender, cocktail making materials. The road was difficult to get up and the driveway was a very tight squeeze. If you are not a good off road driver and get nervous pulling into extremely tight places, this might not be the place for you (but keep in mind, lots of places are like this on the island). The internet was not working when we arrived (not a fault of the management). The broadband internet company sent someone out right away to fix it. Overall, great place. Great value for money. And the house has absolutely everything you need for a beach vacation.

  3. This was a great 14-day trip for my wife and me. Our friends joined us for seven days. The view from Villa Ventosa was fabulous, looking at the sunrise every morning. The property was clean and well maintained and looked just like the pictures. We used the hot tub and the pool a few times but spent most days on the many wonderful beaches on St. John. The hot tub seemed to be fairly new and in great condition. Powerful jets made it very relaxing. The pool was a bit chilly but was fine once in the water a few minutes. There is a palm tree on the south side of the pool so in mid-December it does not get much sun. The rest of the year I’m sure the water is much warmer. But it was refreshing to take a dip on the couple days that we spent getting sun on the deck instead of the beach. The layout was great when our friends were there. The one bedroom on the upper level is isolated from the two bedrooms on the lower level so we all had privacy when desired. The A/C in the bedrooms made sleeping very comfortable. The beds and pillows were awesome and my wife is very picky about those. The lack of A/C in the common area was never an issue. Even during the afternoon, there is a comfortable breeze all the time. The drive up to the house and down the driveway is an adventure but after making it a couple times. it was fine. You definitely need the high ground clearance of a Jeep Wrangler. The RAV4 we had the first couple days did bottom out nearly every trip but once we were able to swap that for a Jeep, it was never a problem. I made the trip in the Jeep using only 2WD on more than one occasion. Karen at Windspree was extremely helpful and responsive for the couple of minor issues that arose during our stay.

  4. Paul, Lynn and Windspree,
Thank you so much for sharing your amazing villa with us! After a difficult year, this was exactly what we needed to rest, relax, and restore! Everythig was so comfortable. We treasured having coffee each morning out under the veranda. The drive up was so adventurous! The spa was amazing – looking out at the ocean under a full moon, seeing the lights across the bay and on Tortola. We love it here and can see why you built a villa here. Also – your plantings are beautiful! We hope to return again!
God Bless you and your family!
