Love St. John?

Volunteer + Help Love City!

CLEAR HIKING TRAILS + BEACHES

If you like to hike, St. John is the place to share your time and talents by helping to maintain hiking trails, preserve historical sites, and cleanup beaches.  Friends of the VI National Park organizes volunteer work for Tuesdays and Thursdays. Meet at 8:00 a.m. at the Park Maintenance Area next to Mongoose Junction to learn where you are needed most. Volunteers are advised to wear closed-toe shoes (no sandals or flip flops) and bring their own lunch and a couple empty water bottles for filling on-site. Tools, gloves, ice water and transportation are all provided, and you’ll be done before happy hour! For more information about volunteering at the Virgin Islands National Park, contact Friends of the Park.

SHARE WHAT YOU KNOW

Are you an expert in a topic or field willing to share what you know with Virgin Islanders looking to learn? We want You!

  • Gardening programs
  • Sports clinics
  • Literacy programs
  • Music lessons + performances
  • Educational lectures
  • And more!

REPAIR SCHOOLS

Hurricane Irma did a number on the schools in the territory, so all sorts of help is needed to get these deserving kids back on the right path, like rebuilding parks, fixing fences, and restoring playgrounds. Does this sound like your area of expertise? The islands await your generous assistance!

RESTORE CORAL REEFSblue tang coral reef

The US Virgin Islands are popular for their incredible natural beauty and residents try hard to keep it that way for visitors far into the future. Thanks to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (AKA EPSCoR), the US Virgin Islands is able to conduct sustainable and nationally competitive energy-related research. Volunteers needed!

GUIDE LOCAL BUSINESSES

Home-grown products of the Virgin Islands are booming and you can help by working with nonprofit groups to provide management and development guidance and support. “Made in the VI” needs your help!

CARRY A BAG OF SUPPLIES

On your next trip to the VI, consider carrying a duffel bag of supplies that are provided to you. Luggage for Life is an environmentally friendly and simple way to deliver crucial medical supplies to the Territory. The Department of Tourism, partnering with the Afya Foundation, invites travelers to the USVI to make a powerful impact by participating in Luggage for Life. For more information, contact the nice folks at Purpose in Paradise.
